Teltonika RUTM56

The RUTM56 pairs a 5G primary modem with a 4G LTE Cat 4 secondary in a single industrial chassis. It's the resilient middle ground for fleets ready to move to 5G but unwilling to take a single-modem risk on day one — and it adds dual-SIM + eSIM on the 5G side for genuine multi-operator failover. Wi-Fi 5, five gigabit Ethernet ports, RutOS.

Best for

5G migration with a safety net

Your primary path is 5G; the 4G modem stands by. Critical for sites where you need 5G's throughput and latency, but can't afford to wait for 5G coverage to mature in your area.

SCADA and industrial control

Industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC UA, DNP3) built into RutOS. Wired LAN to your PLCs, dual cellular paths upstream. The kind of redundancy that compliance auditors look for.

Edge AI inference at the cell tower

Low-latency 5G primary plus an LTE safety net. Run inference workloads on a nearby edge node with confidence that your backhaul won't drop.

Frequently asked

How does the dual-modem setup work in practice?
You configure RutOS to use one modem as primary and the other as standby (failover), or both at once (load-balance). The router monitors each carrier's health and switches in seconds when the primary degrades.
Does the 4G modem also support 3G and 2G?
Yes — the Cat 4 modem will fall back through 3G and 2G if 4G isn't available. Useful for remote sites still on legacy networks.
Does it ship with a SIM?
No — hardware only. The Team Pack or Enterprise Starter SIM packs both pair well; the Enterprise Starter's priority support is worth considering for mission-critical 5G deployments.
How is this different from the RUTC50?
The RUTC50 is a single high-throughput 5G modem with Wi-Fi 6 and very fast LTE Cat 20 fallback. The RUTM56 trades raw throughput for dual-modem resilience and Wi-Fi 5. Pick the RUTC50 for headline speed, the RUTM56 for redundancy.
What's the warranty?
